About Robbie:

My passion for health and fitness began at a young age. As a kid growing up in a rural area, I played a lot of sport, and was always outdoors. I enjoyed challenging myself and trying to get a little bit better each day. While playing rugby for the first XV at high school, I discovered I enjoyed lifting weights and running shuttles more than I did playing rugby. That was the moment I decided I wanted to do something with strength and conditioning.

I went on to study sport and exercise science, do strength & conditioning internships, train rugby teams, and coach CrossFit. I am currently competing in the sport of olympic weight lifting as a 96kg lifter, and my goal is to get selected to compete in the NZ team. I am currently a strength & conditioning intern with the Crusaders Academy, and the trainer for the Sydenham division 1 rugby team. I enjoy a challenge, and seeing what my mind and body is truly capable of.

I have a simplistic approach to training. My goal is to take complex ideas, and explain them and teach them in a way that is simple and easy to understand. My favourite quote is “how you do anything is how you do anything”. I believe the way we approach our day to day life influences the way we approach our training.

I want to get selected for the NZ team for olympic weightlifting as a 96kg lifter, and compete at International competitions. I want to continue to improve my knowledge within strength & conditioning, and share this information with the people I work with in order to help them achieve their goals. Lastly, my goal is to get a little bit better each day, and inspire others to do the same.
